M. R. Steel Forging is situated at Plot No. 153 in the DLF Industrial Area. It’s a place where the hammers are always going and the heat from the furnaces is something you just get used to. We spend our days working with raw steel, heating it up and shaping it into whatever parts are needed. It’s hard, physical work and it gets very loud inside the shed. You have to shout sometimes just to be heard over the machinery. We aren't the kind of place with a clean office or a fancy sign out front. Most of our space is taken up by heavy equipment and piles of metal. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too high, though the forge makes it hot regardless of the weather. There’s a lot of soot and oil around, so we don't wear our best clothes to work. We’ve been operating in this industrial estate for a long time. We know the other shop owners on the street and we often help each other out with tools or advice. We don't have a complicated management structure. Usually, the boss is right there on the floor with everyone else, making sure the measurements are right. We just focus on getting the forgings done and shipped out on time. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. We take it one day at a time and keep the hammers moving.
