Diwan Chand & Sons

Diwan Chand & Sons has been a part of Adarsh Colony near Bata Chowk 2 for a long time now. The shop is a family place where you can usually find one of us sitting behind the old wooden desk. We have piles of goods stacked up high towards the ceiling, mostly things people need for their homes and daily lives. The area around Bata Chowk is always full of movement and noise, but once you step inside, it feels a bit more settled. We have these old shelves that have been here for decades and they still hold up all the heavy stock just fine. It’s not the kind of place with bright lights or glass displays everywhere. We just focus on having what people ask for when they walk through the door. Sometimes the sons are out making deliveries or checking on new supplies while the older members of the family handle the customers. We see the same faces every week, people who have lived in Adarsh Colony since they were kids. The floor is made of old stone that has worn down over the years from all the walking. We don't do much in the way of decoration because the products take up all the space anyway. Most of the day is spent weighing things out or looking through the books to see who owes what. It is a steady way of living that hasn't changed much even as the city around us has grown much bigger and louder.
