Skylab Industries

Skylab Industries is located at 1 C/34 in the Faridabad N I T Industrial Area. It’s a gritty part of town where everyone is busy making something or other. Our workshop is full of the smell of cutting oil and the sound of heavy machinery running through the day. We don’t have a fancy office upstairs; usually, the manager is right down there on the floor with everyone else, wearing the same grease-stained clothes. The building itself has seen better days, and the paint is peeling a bit near the loading dock, but the machines inside are kept in good shape. We do a lot of metalwork and fabrication here. Trucks come in and out of the industrial area all morning, so the road is usually a bit bumpy and dusty. We’ve been at this site for a long time, and we know the guys in the neighboring units pretty well. We share tea during the afternoon break and talk about the price of raw materials or the latest power cuts. It’s hard work, and the summer heat makes the metal roof overhead get really hot. We just keep our heads down and get the orders out of the door. There’s no big marketing team here, just a bunch of guys who know how to run a lathe and handle a welding torch. We take pride in the stuff we ship out, even if the shop floor looks a bit chaotic to an outsider.
