Dass Fabricators

Dass Fabricators is our little workshop over at G-139 in Sgm Nagar. We’re situated quite close to Badkhal Chowk, which is a landmark most people in Nit are familiar with. It’s a noisy place because there’s always some kind of cutting or welding going on. We don’t have a fancy showroom or a secretary at the front. Usually, if you walk in, you’ll find us covered in a bit of dust or grease from whatever project we’re currently tackling. We’ve been doing this for a long time, so the machines are older, but they still run fine if you treat them right. The floor is usually covered in scrap metal and tools, but we know where everything is. It’s a family-run sort of vibe here. We don’t use a lot of big words or complicated processes. We just look at the plans and figure out the best way to build what’s needed. Sometimes things don’t go perfectly, and we have to start over, but that’s just part of fabrication work. We drink a lot of chai and talk about the news while we work. The neighborhood is mostly industrial, so we fit right in with the other shops around us. We like the work because it’s hands-on. At the end of the day, you can see exactly what you’ve made with your own two hands. It feels good to finish a tough job and look at the final product.
