You can find us over at Plot No. 25 in Sector-6. It’s a big open plot because steel takes up a lot of room. There’s usually a truck or two backed up to the loading area, and the sound of metal hitting metal is pretty constant. It’s not the quietest place to work, but we like it. The air always has a bit of a metallic tang to it. We deal with various types of steel, mostly moving it around and cutting it to size. It’s heavy work and it wears you out by the end of the shift. We don’t have a fancy air-conditioned lobby or anything like that. Just a small room with a table where we check the invoices and talk to the drivers. The yard is where everything happens. We have to be careful moving things around so nobody gets hurt. It’s a serious business, handling tons of metal every day. We’ve been in Sector-6 for a long time and we know the rhythms of the industrial park. When the sun goes down, we lock up the gate and head home, only to do it all again the next morning. It’s not a complicated life, but it’s ours. We just focus on getting the steel out to the people who need it without making a big fuss about things. The crane operator usually gets here first, and we start the day with a quick talk about the schedule.
