We've been here on Malerna Road in Ballabhgarh for a good stretch of time now. It’s a busy spot near Beri Bag and the traffic never really stops outside our door. Most days we are just busy sorting out different engineering parts and making sure the inventory is where it should be. People come in looking for specific items for their projects or repairs, and we try to find what they need in the stacks. Sometimes the shop gets a bit dusty because of all the metal and heavy items moving around, but that’s just how it is in this line of work. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning or anything like that. We have a few desks and a lot of shelves filled with stuff that people in the local factories and workshops use every day. If you walk down the road past the main turns, you’ll find us easily enough. We start early in the morning and usually stay until the sun goes down and the market starts to quiet. The tea guy comes around twice a day and that’s usually when we take a small break. It’s mostly just hard work and keeping track of orders coming in from different places. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. Dealing with machinery parts means our hands are rarely clean, but we don’t mind. It’s a decent way to make a living here in Ballabhgarh.
