Gangariamman Cement Work

Our place is located on Kangayam Road in Chennimala. You will see number 55 if you are driving past the area. It is officially called Gangariamman Cement Work but mostly the locals just call us for whatever cement stuff they need. We have all the molds out in the yard and the mixer is usually running for most of the morning hours. It makes a lot of noise that you get used to after a while. The cement dust gets on everything, and even the leaves on the trees nearby look a bit grey sometimes. We make the things that people need for basic building, nothing fancy or decorative. We are right there on the main road so it is pretty easy for the drivers to find us. Usually, there are a couple of us working the bags and pouring the wet mix into the forms. It is heavy work and my back usually feels it by the end of the shift. We do not have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room for customers. If you come by, you just walk up to the shed and find one of us. We might be busy with the water hose or moving the finished pieces to the drying area. Chennimala is a good spot for us. The weather is usually okay for drying out the cement properly. We just stay busy and try to keep the yard organized, though it gets cluttered pretty fast.
