Our place is situated in what they call Synthite Valley. It sounds a bit more grand than it actually feels on a Tuesday morning when you're just trying to get the equipment started. Synthite Industrial Chemicals Limited has been here for a good while. The valley is a bit isolated, which is actually helpful for the kind of industrial work we do. We deal with various chemicals and industrial processes that require a lot of room and specific setups. It’s a large site and you end up walking a lot between the different buildings. The air often has that sharp, clean smell you get around chemical plants. We don't have many visitors out here, it's mostly just the staff and the delivery drivers. Most of us have been working here for years and we know the quirks of the machines. It’s not the kind of work you can rush. You have to pay attention to what you’re doing or things get messy fast. We have our lunch in a small breakroom and talk about the weather or local news. The days can be long, especially when we have a big project going on. We just put on our gear and get to it. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy from morning until late. The valley gets dark pretty early because of the hills around us, but we just keep the lights on and finish the shift.
