Nooranattu Stores

We have been here in Nellad on Valakom Road for quite some time now. It’s just a small shop where we keep the things people around here need every day. My father started this place, and I’ve been helping out since I was a kid. We open early in the morning, usually around seven, because the workers passing by need their supplies before they get to the fields or the sites. The shelves are mostly full of rice, oil, and the usual groceries. Sometimes things get a bit dusty because of the road work outside, but we try to keep it tidy. It isn't a fancy supermarket or anything like that. You just walk in, ask for what you want, and we get it for you. Most of our customers are neighbors we’ve known for years. We know their names and what they usually buy on a Tuesday. Sometimes we run out of stock when the delivery truck gets delayed, which happens more often than I’d like. We just write it down in the notebook and tell them to come back tomorrow. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for us and the people living nearby. There’s a small bench outside where people sit and talk while waiting for the bus. It’s a quiet spot, and we like being part of the community here.
