Padyatty Oil Mills

We run our oil mill out in Mattoor, which is a part of Kalady. It’s a place where the air usually smells like crushed seeds and oil. This is something we’ve gotten used to over the years. The mill has been part of the landscape here for a long time. We take pride in the fact that we are still going. It isn't a modern, sterile factory. It’s an old-fashioned mill with heavy machinery that makes a lot of noise when it's running. We spend our days processing different types of oils. We just make sure everything comes out the way it's supposed to. The floors can get a bit greasy. Also, the heat from the machines is quite something in the summer. That’s just the nature of the work. We aren't trying to sell anyone on a dream. We are just providing oil to the people who need it. Most of our customers are locals from around Kalady who know us by name. We don't do much advertising. Word of mouth has always been enough for us. If you come by Mattoor, you’ll likely hear the mill before you see it. We have a small crew of workers who have been with us for ages. We treat each other like family. It’s a simple life, focused on production and keeping the machines in good working order. That’s really all there is to it.
