Our office is located in Lower Harishava Laban, right in Shillong. It’s at C/O S.K. Sen’s place. If you’ve ever been to Meghalaya, you know how the weather can be—lots of rain and mist rolling in over the hills. It’s a quiet spot compared to the big cities. Softwarecolsuntancy is based out of this small space. We don't have a huge staff or a big sign out front. It’s more like a home office that grew a bit over time. The rooms are a little cramped with books and equipment, but it feels cozy when it’s cold outside. We usually start our day with a hot drink and a look at the tasks for the week. Since we're in 793004, we don't have to deal with the same level of traffic as people in the south do, but the hills have their own way of slowing things down. We do our work on our own schedule for the most part. There’s no corporate handbook or HR department here. We just know what needs to be done and we get to it. Sometimes we spend the whole day just fixing one small error. Other days, things go fast. We like the pace of life in Shillong. It gives us room to think without everything feeling like a race. It’s a modest setup, but it’s where we feel most at home. We often have to walk up the steep roads to get anywhere, but the fresh air makes up for the effort. It's just a small group of us trying to keep the computers happy. Nothing more, nothing less.
