Bamboo Hut

Bamboo Hut is located in Rap’s Mansion on M.G. Road, right in the heart of Police Bazar in Shillong. If you know the area at all, we are directly opposite the D.C. Court. Being in Police Bazar means it is always crowded outside our door with shoppers and people running errands. The weather here in Shillong changes fast, so people often duck into our place to get out of the rain or the cold wind. Inside, it is a bit more relaxed than the busy street outside. We have been here for a good while, and the walls have seen a lot of different customers come and go over the years. We do not do anything too fancy with the decor. It is mostly wood and simple lights that give off a warm feeling. The staff here are locals who know the neighborhood well. We start the day by checking the stock and making sure the kitchen is ready for the lunch peak. Since we are near the court, we get a lot of lawyers and people with legal business coming in for a quick meal before they head back. It is a practical place. We don't spend money on big ads or polished brochures. Most people find us just by walking past or hearing about us from a friend. We focus on keeping the food consistent and the tables clean. It is a small operation, and we like it that way.
