Sandys Punjabi Rasoi

Preet Vihar is a busy part of Delhi, and our shop is tucked away in the Dda Market at Defence Enclave. Sandys Punjabi Rasoi is right opposite the petrol pump, so it’s easy for people to find us even when the traffic is bad. We deal with a lot of noise from the main road, but once you’re inside the market, it feels a bit more like a neighborhood. We get here early to start the slow cooking that Punjabi food needs. The kitchen is small and gets very hot, especially during the summer months. We handle everything ourselves, from picking out the vegetables to making sure the spices are ground just right. It’s not a fancy restaurant with waiters in uniforms; it’s more of a place where you just get your food and eat. We do a lot of packing for people who want to take their dinner home after a long day at work. Sometimes the market gets so crowded that it’s hard to even walk, but we like the energy of it. We’ve been in this spot for a while, and we know which neighbors like extra chilies and who prefers less salt. It is just about doing the work and making sure the pots are scrubbed clean at night. Delhi is a tough city, but we have our little corner here. We hope the stove keeps working and the rain doesn't leak through the market roof.
