We operate Sandy Foods Distributors Pvt. Ltd. out of a space at A- 142 in Preet Vihar. It’s more of a warehouse and office setup than a shop where people walk in off the street. Most of our day is spent talking on the phone with retailers and checking the stock levels in the back. There are crates stacked high with different food items and drinks. The trucks come in early to load up for their rounds across the city. It can get pretty loud when the heavy shutters are pulled up and the loading starts. My desk is covered in invoices and delivery notes that I need to sort through. We have a few guys who handle the heavy lifting and driving. Preet Vihar is a busy neighborhood, so getting the trucks in and out of the narrow lanes can be a bit of a headache sometimes. We’ve had this place for quite a few years and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint. We aren't doing any fancy marketing or trying to look like a big corporation. We just focus on getting the food products to the shops that need them. Sometimes a machine breaks down or a driver gets stuck in traffic, and we just have to figure it out on the fly. It’s a lot of coordination and simple hard work. We stay until the last delivery is logged and the gate is locked for the night.
