Jawahar Shah Kundan Lal (Estd. 1890)

My family has been at 5137-38/2&3 in Main Rui Mandi for a long time. The shop started back in 1890. That's a lot of years. Sadar Bazar is always crowded, and we've seen it change so much over the decades. Jawahar Shah and Kundan Lal were the ones who got it all going. These days, we just keep things moving along. It’s a bit dusty here sometimes because of all the traffic outside. People come in looking for things, and we try to find what they need in the stacks. We aren't fancy. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but the history is there. We open up every morning and handle whatever comes through the door. It's a lot of work keeping an old place running. Sometimes the paperwork gets ahead of us. We've got stuff tucked away in corners you wouldn't believe. It’s not like those new malls where everything is shiny and quiet. It’s loud out there in the mandi. We’ve been here through the heat and the rain. If you walk down the main lane, you’ll find us easily enough. We don't spend much time on the computer, mostly we're just talking to people or checking the stock. It's a simple life. We've been doing this for generations now, so it's just what we do. Not much else to say. We're just here in the middle of it all, same as always. We keep our doors open for anyone who stops by.
