Embroidery Zone

If you walk down Main Raghubar Pura Road, you'll eventually find us at X-2302. This is Embroidery Zone, and it's usually a very busy place. The street outside is always packed with rickshaws and people carrying bundles of cloth. Inside our space, the sound of the needles is almost constant. We have different types of machines set up, and there’s thread everywhere you look. It’s not the most organized-looking place, but we know where everything is. We spend our days looking at patterns and making sure the stitching is tight. The lighting has to be good, so we have these bright lamps over the work areas. It gets a bit dusty with all the fabric flying around, but we keep the brooms handy. Living and working on Raghubar Pura Road means you are always in the middle of the action. We often have tea delivered from the small stall at the corner while we work through the afternoon. It’s a family-run kind of vibe here, even if we aren’t all related. We’ve been at X-2302 for several years, and we know most of the other shop owners on the block. Sometimes we stay late when a big order needs to go out, and the street finally gets quiet. It’s hard work, and your back can get tired from leaning over the frames, but seeing a finished piece makes it feel like we did something good. We just keep doing what we do, day after day, without making a big fuss about it.
