Ahuja Glass Emporium

Being over here in Shakarpur at the Veer Savarkar Block, things are always moving fast. We’ve got the shop at number 23, right on Vikas Marg. It’s a glass shop, so we have to be pretty careful about how we move things around. There’s always that clinking sound of glass being stacked or cut to size. We do a lot of window glass, mirrors, and sometimes the thicker stuff for tabletops. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to keep a lot of variety in stock, from plain clear glass to some of the textured patterns people like for their bathrooms. If you come by, you’ll probably see us with the measuring tape and glass cutters out. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us doing the work and making sure the edges aren't too sharp before someone takes a piece home. Sometimes the dust from the grinding can get everywhere, but we try to keep it clean. People come in with sketches on scrap paper and we do our best to match what they want. It’s a practical business. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but we’re still here in the same spot, cutting glass for whoever needs a replacement or a new mirror for their wall. It keeps us busy most days and we don't really think about much else.
