About Petro General Engineering Works – Engineering in Durg
Down at No. 43 in the industrial estate, things are always a bit noisy and greasy. That’s where we run Petro General Engineering Works. We’ve got lathes and milling machines that have been running for years, and they still do the job just fine. Most of our day is spent working with metal, cutting parts to size or fixing something that broke down at another factory nearby. We’re usually covered in a bit of oil or metal shavings by noon. It’s the kind of place where you don’t want to wear anything nice. We don't have any fancy reception area; you just walk straight into the shop floor and find one of us. We handle a lot of small jobs for the other businesses in the estate, and sometimes bigger projects that take a few weeks to finish. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we’re checking a drawing or writing out a bill. Mostly, it’s about the machines and the physical work. The floor is concrete and hard on the feet, but we’re used to it. We keep the doors open to let some air in, but it still gets pretty warm in the summer months. We just focus on the work at hand and try to get the pieces out the door so people can get their own machines back up and running. It’s just a regular engineering shop doing what needs to be done.
