We have been operating Paul Engineering from Shop No F-9 in the Madhusudan Madhur Jeevan Complex for quite some time now. Being located in Namda Basti means we are right in the middle of a lot of local activity. Our shop is not the biggest, but it is packed with the tools and materials we need for our daily work. Most mornings start with us opening the shutters and clearing out the workspace to make room for whatever job has come in. There is usually a lot of scrap metal and filings on the floor by the end of the shift. We don’t really do fancy office stuff or have a receptionist. If you come by, you will likely find us at the back near the welding machine or the lathe. The noise can be a bit much sometimes, but that is just part of the engineering life. We know most of our neighbors in the complex, and we often share tea in the afternoons. Our focus is just on the task at hand, whether it is fixing a small part or working on a larger assembly. We don’t use a lot of complicated computer programs; most of our measuring is done with old-fashioned calipers and rulers. The walls of the shop are covered in calendars and notes from old jobs. It’s a practical place for people who need something made or repaired. We just keep our heads down and get the work done as it comes. It's a bit dusty, but we like it.
