R. Shunmugam Pillai & Sons

Our place is located on Eduka Mosque Lane, right near the main Palani Road. It’s a bit of an old area with a lot of history in the streets. R. Shunmugam Pillai & Sons has been a family business for a long time now. You can find us at number 7, right near the Chellandiamman Koil Street turn. The street outside is usually crowded with people going to the temple or heading to the market nearby. We keep the front doors open most of the day to let the air in. Inside, it’s mostly tall shelves and stacks of items we’ve been dealing with for years. We don't spend any money on bright signs or big marketing campaigns. Most people around this part of town just know us by our name anyway. It gets a bit dusty with all the traffic passing by outside, but we try to sweep the floor every morning before we start. We deal with the locals and sometimes people who are just traveling through Palani. It’s a very simple setup we have here. We still use an old ledger for most of our stuff and we generally know where everything is kept, even if it looks a bit messy to an outsider. My brothers and I handle most of the work ourselves. We don't have a big staff or fancy uniforms. If you call the shop, one of us will probably answer while we are busy moving stock.
