K K L Candle

You can find our shop, K K L Candle, up here in Kodaikanal at number 29. We are located right near the Maryamman Koil which is a busy little area. The mornings here are often cold and misty so the smell of the melting wax in the shop is actually quite nice when we get started. We spend most of our time working with our hands and usually end up with wax on our clothes by lunch. It is a slow process making these but we have been doing it this way for a long time. The temple is so close that we can hear the bells and the sounds of people walking past all day long. Our workspace is pretty simple with shelves for the finished candles and big pots for the wax. We do not have a big factory or anything like that. It is just us in this small space. Sometimes the floor is a bit messy with scraps of wick and spilled wax but that is just how it goes when you are busy. People who visit the temple often stop in to see what we are doing. We do not spend much time on the computer or doing any fancy advertising. We just focus on the heat of the wax and getting the colors right. It is a quiet and simple life for us here in the hills of Kodaikanal.
