Dr. Ulhas Patil Medical College

Dr. Ulhas Patil Medical College is out on the Jalgaon-Bhusawal Road, right on NH No.6. It’s a big place, much larger than most schools because it’s a medical college and a hospital too. Being out at Jalgaon Khurd means there’s a lot of open space around us, but also a lot of wind and dust from the highway. You’ll see students in their white coats walking between the hostel and the main building all day long. It’s a busy atmosphere because people come from all over Maharashtra for treatment at the hospital side. The corridors are long and usually smell like floor cleaner. We have a lot of machinery and labs that need constant looking after. It’s not the kind of place that ever really sleeps. Even at night, there are lights on in the wards and the emergency area. The canteen is where everyone meets up to complain about exams or the heat. Jalgaon can get incredibly hot, so the coolers are always running. We’ve got plenty of parking for the ambulances and the staff cars. It’s a lot to manage, honestly. Between the medical students and the patients, there is never a quiet moment. It’s a practical, hardworking institution, and we just try to keep everything running as smoothly as possible despite the constant rush of the highway outside.
