Abhay B.Ed College is right here on New Mumbai Agra Road in Dhule. Most people know the spot because of the highway traffic, but once you step inside our gates, things quiet down quite a bit. We’ve been training future teachers for a while now. It isn’t always fancy. Sometimes the fans are loud and the halls get dusty when the wind picks up from the road, but the work gets done. Students come from all over Maharashtra to learn how to manage a classroom. We don't have those big glass buildings you see in Mumbai, just solid walls and desks where people sit and study. It gets pretty hot in Dhule during the summer months, so everyone just tries to stay under the shade of the trees we have out front. The staff here mostly grew up around this area, so we know how tough it is to find good work after finishing school. That’s why we take the training seriously, even if we don’t talk in big professional words. We just want the students to pass their exams and actually know what to do when they stand in front of forty kids. Lunchtime is usually when it feels most alive, with everyone sharing tiffins and talking about their weekend plans back home. It’s just a regular place where people come to get their degree and move on to their careers. No more, no less. We keep the gates open every morning.
