Maruti Granites

Our yard is located at Plot No. 30/A in the Belur Industrial Area. If you are driving along Projoni Road, you can usually hear the sound of the saws before you see the sign for Maruti Granites. We spend a lot of our time outdoors, moving these heavy granite slabs around with the loader. It is heavy work, and you have to have a lot of patience to get it right. The stone comes in all different weights and sizes, so we spend a good chunk of the morning just figuring out where to put everything so it doesn't get in the way. Water is always running somewhere to keep the blades cool while we are cutting, so the ground is usually a bit wet. We wear boots all day for a reason. There isn't much of a lobby here, just a spot under the shade where we talk to people who come by. We show them the different grains and the way the granite looks when it is wet versus dry. Most of the guys have been working here a while, so we know the inventory pretty well. Sometimes a shipment is late or a machine breaks down, and we just have to figure it out as we go. It is a bit noisy and messy, but it is what we know how to do. Being in the Belur area suits us just fine, and we just keep busy with the slabs from morning till night.
