Hotel Ellora

Hotel Ellora is located on Hubli Station Road, which means it is almost always loud outside. We are in the J C Nagar area, right near the Ajanta Hotel. If you are coming from the station, you can’t really miss the turn. It’s a busy part of Hubli, with 580020 being the pin code we use for mail. I spend most of my time making sure the hallways are clear and that the guests have what they need. It’s a lot of work running a place on Station Road because the dust never seems to stop coming in from the traffic. We get a lot of people who just stepped off a train and look like they haven’t slept in days. They don’t want a long speech, they just want a key and a shower. Being so close to Ajanta Hotel, people sometimes get us mixed up, but we’ve been here long enough that the locals know who we are. The building has its quirks, like the way the stairs creak a bit or how the light hits the lobby in the afternoon. It’s just an old-fashioned way of doing things, I suppose. We don’t have any fancy robots or automated systems. It’s just me and a couple of others keeping the doors open. It’s a simple living, but it keeps us busy from morning until late at night. Sometimes the rain helps clear the air for a while.
