Sri Ram Vidyalaya School

Sri Ram Vidyalaya School is out in Kalanikattur, which is near Nagarkoodal. We are located on the Mullai Nagar Road in the Vanavasi area of Dharmapuri. It is a very green part of the country, and the school is surrounded by a lot of trees and open space. The road to get here is narrow and winds through some local fields. Our school is a simple collection of buildings that have been built up over time. You can hear the birds chirping in the mornings before the students arrive. We have a small yard where everyone gathers for the morning assembly under the shade of a big neem tree. The classrooms are open to the breeze, which is nice when the Dharmapuri heat starts to rise in the afternoon. Most of our students come from the local villages around Nagarkoodal, often walking or coming on their father's mopeds. The office is a small room with a wooden table and a cupboard full of registers. We do not have any fancy technology here, just the basics like chalk and slates for the younger ones. It is a very calm place to be, far away from the noise of the bigger cities. Life moves slowly on Mullai Nagar Road. We just try to provide a steady place for the kids to come every day. When the monsoon hits, the smell of the wet earth around the school is something we all look forward to.
