Finding us isn't too hard if you know where the FCI Godown is in Barmasia. Our office for Max New York Life Insurance Co. Ltd. is situated right behind it in Shahajanand Nagar. Dhanbad is a busy place, especially with all the coal and transport activity, so there are always trucks moving around near the godown. This makes our corner of the neighborhood a bit noisy during the day, but you get used to the sound of engines and people shouting instructions. The office itself is pretty straightforward. We have some chairs for people to sit in while they wait and a few desks where we keep all the paperwork. Insurance involves a lot of forms and folders, so things can look a bit cluttered if we don’t stay on top of it. We usually start the day with some tea and a quick chat about what needs to get done. The weather in Jharkhand can be quite harsh, so we are always glad to be indoors when the afternoon heat hits. People from all over Dhanbad come by to talk about their plans and we just sit and listen to what they need. It’s a very grounded kind of job. We don't use a lot of big words or fancy talk; we just explain things like we would to a neighbor. It’s just a regular office doing regular things behind that big godown where the trucks go.
