Swami Vivekanand Public High School

The school is located at House No 15 in Tonkhurd, which is a quiet little spot in the Dewas district. Being in a house makes Swami Vivekanand Public High School feel a bit different than the big institutions you see in Indore or other cities. It’s a practical space. We’ve used every corner of the building to make sure there is enough room for the high school students. In the mornings, you can see the kids walking down the lane toward House No 15. The neighbors are used to the noise by now. Tonkhurd is the kind of place where everyone knows each other, so we don't have to explain much about who we are. We spend a lot of our time just managing the day-to-day things. If a window latch breaks, one of us fixes it. If the chalk runs out, someone runs to the store nearby. It’s not a polished environment with shiny floors, but it’s where the local kids come to learn their subjects. The walls have some charts and drawings made by the students over the years. We keep the gate open during the day, and sometimes a stray dog wanders in. We just shoo it out and get back to work. It’s a very normal, local life here in Dewas, just trying to keep the school running smoothly for the families around here. We just do our best every day without any fuss.
