Maa Bhagwati School

Maa Bhagwati School sits on Azad Marg in JP Colony, and the easiest way to find us is to look for the State Bank of India ATM nearby. Khategaon is a small enough town that once you find that ATM, you are basically here. The school building is tucked away a bit, and it usually has a few bicycles parked out front. We start pretty early when the air is still a bit cool. The classrooms are basic with simple benches, and we try to keep things organized despite the dust that always seems to blow in from the road. Most of the people working here have lived in this area all their lives. We know the parents and the grandparents too. It is a straightforward kind of place. We don’t have fancy equipment, just the books and the boards and the teachers. During the break, you can hear the kids playing all the way down the street. It gets very quiet once they leave for the day, and that is when we do most of the cleaning and paperwork. The neighborhood is friendly, and sometimes the shopkeepers from Azad Marg come by just to chat for a while. We are just a local school trying to get through the daily schedule and make sure the students learn what they need to. It is practical work, day in and day out. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles, just a normal place for kids to spend their day.
