Prakaram Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of Hetimpur in the Sonia Mundera area of Kushinagar. Minde Singh is the one who keeps an eye on things at the local office. Our office is a simple room where we keep our files and meet up after a long day in the fields. It can get pretty humid here, which changes how we have to handle the produce. We started this producer company because we wanted to have a bit more say in how our goods are handled. It’s a lot of practical work, like figuring out transport or checking the quality of what we’ve grown. Minde and the rest of us are usually busy with something, whether it's a broken fence or a delivery that's late. We don't have a marketing department telling us what to say. We just tell it like it is. If the crop is good, we are happy. If the rain stays away too long, we worry. That’s just the life of a farmer here. We are just trying to keep our community going one day at a time.
