Virender Plastic is tucked away in the Lawrence Road Industrial Area. It’s a place where there is always the sound of machines running and the smell of raw materials in the air. We aren't a showroom; we are a working factory floor. Most of the time, the floor is covered in scraps and we are busy trying to meet an order that needs to go out by evening. It’s a gritty kind of job. We don’t wear suits here. We wear clothes that we don’t mind getting dirty. We have been in this industrial patch for quite some time now. We know the other shop owners and the tea stalls that serve the workers. Our day starts early and often ends long after the sun goes down. The machines can be temperamental, so we spend a lot of time fixing things ourselves. It’s not a shiny corporate life. It’s about making things that people use and making sure they are done right. We don’t have a marketing team or a big board of directors. It’s just a few of us making sure the production line keeps moving. Sometimes it’s stressful when a machine breaks down or a delivery is late, but we find a way to fix it. We are just a local plastic unit trying to keep the business steady and our workers happy. It’s loud and messy, but it is our livelihood.
