Smart Batteries

If you know Karol Bagh, you know how crowded it gets, and 22/3820 is right in the thick of all that noise. Smart Batteries is basically just a room filled with heavy black boxes and the faint smell of lead and acid. It is definitely not the cleanest job you could have. If you carry a few batteries, your clothes are probably going to have holes in them by the end of the month. We have them stacked up against the walls almost all the way to the ceiling. The floor is old concrete and the lighting isn't the best, but we know where everything is. People come in all the time complaining that their car won't start or their home backup is dead. We just take their old battery, put it on the tester, and tell them the truth about it. There are no suits or ties here, just old t-shirts and sandals because it is easier to move around. The street outside is so loud with rickshaws and people shouting that we have to yell sometimes just to talk to a customer. We keep a big ledger on the wooden desk to write down the sales because we trust paper more than computers. Sometimes we have to stay late because a shipment from the distributor arrived behind schedule. We just keep working until it is done. It is a small, busy operation here in Karol Bagh that keeps us on our feet.
