Makhija Electronics is tucked away in Old Lajpat Rai Market on Diwan Hill Road. If you know this area, you know how crowded and hectic it gets. Our shop at number 768 is packed from floor to ceiling with components and wires. It’s not the kind of place where things are neatly organized on shelves with labels; you usually have to ask us where something is because we’re the only ones who know which box has what. My brother and I run the counter, and we’ve been dealing with all sorts of circuit boards and spare parts since we were young. It’s a bit dusty here, and the light isn't great, but we have everything a repairman might need. Customers come in all day asking for things I sometimes haven't seen in years, but usually, we can dig it out from the back. We don't have a website or a fancy catalog. Most people just show up with a broken part in their hand and ask if we have a replacement. The noise from the street is constant, and we drink a lot of chai to keep going through the afternoon rush. It’s a simple business, really. We buy stuff, we sell stuff, and we try to make sure people get what they came for so they can get their own work done. It’s been our life for a long time now.
