If you are driving down G T Road, you might see us at 486/1. Shyam Battery has been sitting here for a long time. It’s a heavy-duty kind of place. We deal with all sorts of batteries for cars, bikes, and those big inverters people use at home when the power goes out. The floor is concrete and usually has some marks from moving the heavy stuff around. It’s not the cleanest shop in the world, but we know where everything is kept. We keep the new stock piled up against the back wall and the old ones we take for scrap in the corner. My nephew helps me out most days, especially with the heavy lifting because my back isn't what it used to be. People pull up their vehicles right in front and we go out to take a look. Usually, it’s just a loose wire or they need a jump, but sometimes the whole battery is dead. We tell them what's what and how long a new one might last. The traffic on G T Road is always loud, so we have to speak up a bit. We don't have a fancy office, just a small desk with a ledger where I write everything down by hand. It works for us. We've seen a lot of people come and go over the years, but we’re still right here in the same spot.
