Sanjay Kabadi

My name is Sanjay and I run this small kabadi shop at C-1 in Massod Pur, over in Vasant Kunj. I’ve been working at this same spot for a very long time now. Most people around Massod Pur know me as the guy who takes all the old junk and scrap off their hands. We take almost everything, from old refrigerators and broken washing machines to bundles of old newspapers and plastic containers. The place is usually quite full and looks a bit chaotic to anyone walking by. I spend my days sorting through what can be recycled and what is just plain waste. It's a lot of manual work, moving heavy metal items and making sure the piles are stacked safely so they don't fall over. I don't have a big team of people, just a few local guys who help me with the heavy lifting and loading the trucks when they come. Vasant Kunj is a nice area but my corner is strictly for hard work. It’s always dusty and can get a bit loud when we are throwing metal pieces around. I use a manual scale for weighing most things, and we settle the cash payments right there on the spot. I don't use any fancy computer apps; a simple notebook and a pen are enough for me to keep track of the daily business. It’s a basic job but it’s how I earn my living. I just get on with it and do what needs doing.
