Ravinder Dev Jhari

Darya Ganj is a place with a lot of history, and that’s where you’ll find me. My spot is on Ansari Road, at number 42371. This area is always full of energy, with people selling books on the pavement and cars trying to squeeze through the narrow spaces. The building I’m in is old, with those thick walls and high ceilings that you don’t see in modern constructions anymore. Ravinder Dev Jhari has been here for years, and I’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over that time. My office is filled with papers, old wooden furniture, and the smell of dust and old books that seems to hang in the air around Darya Ganj. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but it’s worth it once you get settled. I don’t have any fancy gadgets or modern decor. I prefer things the way they’ve always been. Most of my day is spent meeting people who stop by for advice or to discuss some business. We usually sit around the table with some tea and just talk through things. It’s a very personal way of working. Outside, you can hear the constant honking and the shouting of the vendors, but inside it’s relatively calm. I like being part of this part of Delhi. It feels real and grounded, unlike the newer parts of the city that all look the same. I'll probably be right here at this same desk for many more years to come.
