Random House India

DLF City Phase 3 in Gurgaon is where our office for Random House India is located, specifically at U 25 14. If you know Gurgaon, you know how much it has changed over the years. This part of the city is a mix of houses and small offices, so it doesn't feel too sterile. Our building is a typical white structure with a few floors, and we occupy the space that used to be a large residence. Because of that, the layout is a bit unusual for an office. We’ve got books stacked in almost every corner, from the entrance to the back rooms. It’s not a library, but sometimes it feels like one with how quiet everyone is when they’re reading or editing. The windows look out onto the street where you can see the local vendors and the occasional stray dog napping in the shade. We have a small kitchen area where we make our own tea and lunch, which is where most of the office gossip happens. It’s a bit of a walk from the metro station, so most of us are a bit tired by the time we get in, but the coffee machine helps with that. The air conditioning is a necessity here, especially when the Gurgaon sun is beating down on the roof. It’s just a regular group of people doing their jobs among piles of manuscripts and printed pages. We enjoy the local atmosphere here in Phase 3.
