R S Aggarwal

The office for R S Aggarwal is right in the thick of it at Patiala House Courts, in the Main Market at number 103. If you've ever been down there, you know how it is. It’s a sea of people, lawyers in their black coats, and folks looking a bit lost. We are in a small room packed with files and books that go all the way to the ceiling. It feels a bit cramped sometimes, especially when there are more than two people in the room, but we’re used to it. The walls are covered in calendars and old notes taped up so we don't forget things. There is always the sound of typing or people talking loudly in the hallway. It’s a high-energy place to work. We don't have any of those fancy coffee machines; we just get a cup from the vendor who walks by every hour. The desk is usually buried under a pile of papers, but I know exactly where everything is. You have to be organized in a place like this or you'll get swallowed up by the chaos. We’ve been operating out of this market for years. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s honest work. We deal with whatever comes our way, one file at a time. By the end of the day, our eyes are usually tired from all the reading, but it’s a good kind of tired. We just lock up and head out into the Delhi evening.
