We are based at Patiala House Courts, specifically in room 184 A. If you’ve ever been to the courts in Delhi, you know how loud and crowded it gets. Our office is a small space tucked away where we keep all our files and law books. There are always people rushing past in the corridors and the sound of typewriters or printers in the background. We spend a lot of our time waiting for hearings or drafting papers on old wooden desks. It’s not the kind of place with soft carpets and quiet music. It’s gritty and fast-paced, and sometimes very dusty. We’ve got stacks of paper everywhere because there is always another case to look at. The air conditioning sometimes struggles with the Delhi heat, so we just keep the fans going. We don’t have a big reception area; you just walk in and find someone at a desk. Most of our days are spent talking to people who are stressed about their legal matters. We listen and try to figure out the best way to move forward through the paperwork. It’s a lot of walking back and forth between the different courtrooms. We’ve been at 184 A for quite some time, and the building itself has so much history. We just do our work, deal with the court clerks, and head home when the gates start closing for the day. It is honest, tiring work. We take it one day at a time.
