Prem Traders

If you know Kashmere Gate, you know how crowded the Gurunanak Auto Market can get on a Tuesday morning. We are tucked in at 2818, right in the middle of all that noise and movement. Prem Traders has been operating from this spot for years. It is mostly stacks of boxes and the smell of metal and grease around here. We deal in various auto parts, mostly for the older models that people still drive around the city. It’s not a fancy showroom. There are no glass displays or soft chairs to sit in while you wait. Most of our day is spent checking inventory or talking to mechanics who come in looking for something specific. Sometimes the part someone needs is buried at the back of the shelf, so it takes a minute to find. We don't mind the dust. The market has its own rhythm and we are just a small part of it. If you need a specific bolt or a gasket that’s hard to track down elsewhere, there’s a good chance it’s sitting in one of our bins. My dad started this and now I handle the daily stuff. We keep the ledger books on the desk and try to stay organized, even when three people are asking questions at once. It’s basic work, but it keeps the vehicles on the road, and that’s enough for us. The tea guy comes around twice a day, and those are usually the only times we actually sit down.
