You can find Pragati Electronics at Shop No 33 A in the Housing Board Market in Chakkarpur. We’re right there in Saraswati Vihar. It’s a busy market area, especially in the evenings when everyone is out shopping. Our shop is quite small, so we have to use every bit of wall space for shelving. We have parts and boxes stacked almost to the ceiling in some places. It has that smell of solder and old electronics that you get in places like this. We’ve been here for a long time, and we know most of the people who walk by every day. It’s a community feel. I usually open up the shop around ten in the morning and start by tidying up the counter. There’s always some dust that comes in from the street. We don't have a lot of room for customers to wait, so they usually just lean against the counter while we look for a capacitor or a specific wire they need. It’s a hands-on life. We’re often in the back with a magnifying glass trying to see a small connection. We don't do any big advertising or anything.
