New Century Publications

Our little publishing office is at Shop No 2618 on Bhagat Singh Street No 9 in Chuna Mandi, which is part of the Paharganj area. It’s a bit of a walk through the narrow lanes to get to us, but that’s just how this part of Delhi is. We deal with books and printing. The walls are mostly hidden behind stacks of paper and finished copies. It’s not the quietest place because there’s always a machine running somewhere or someone talking about a layout. We’ve been here for a while, just doing our thing. We don't go in for big launches or fancy parties. We just put the books together and get them out to the people who want them. It’s honest work. Sometimes the ink gets on our hands and the deadlines are tight, but we manage to get through it. The street outside is usually full of life, with tea stalls and other small businesses all around us. We like the energy of Chuna Mandi. It keeps us moving. We aren't some giant media company. It’s just a few of us making sure the pages are right and the binding holds up. We are usually there from morning till evening, surrounded by the smell of paper and fresh ink, just keeping the presses going.
