About Michael Voltage Stabilizers – Energy in Delhi
Down here in Acharaya Niketan, specifically B 20 in Mayur Vihar Phase I, we deal with power problems. The stabilizers we make are heavy because of the transformers inside. My hands are usually stained with bits of copper or solder. It’s a small workshop where we put everything together by hand. There are wires and tools scattered all over the benches. Sometimes I can't find my favorite screwdriver for ten minutes. We don't have a big showroom; it’s more of a place where things get built. People bring in their old units that have stopped working after a big storm or a power surge. I open them up and see the burnt parts and try to fix what I can. It’s satisfying when a machine hums back to life. The fans in the ceiling are old and they squeak a bit as they turn. We get a lot of local people coming in because they know we’ve been here a long time. It’s a messy business with all the metal shavings and cut wires on the floor, but we sweep up every evening. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. It’s just us working with our hands and trying to keep the appliances in the neighborhood running safely. My brother Michael used to help out more before his knees started bothering him. Now he mostly just helps with the phone calls.
