Memorable Carpets

You can find Memorable Carpets at 25 B in the Jang Pura area, right near Lajpat Nagar. It’s a small shop packed with rugs and carpets from floor to ceiling. The air always smells a bit like wool and old textiles. We have stacks of carpets everywhere, so you have to watch your step when you walk through the aisles. It isn't a brightly lit showroom like the ones in the malls. We have some basic tubelights and a few old chairs for customers to sit on while we unroll the pieces. We’ve been in this part of Delhi for a long time. People come in looking for something for their living rooms or bedrooms. We spend a lot of time moving heavy rolls around, which is quite the workout. The storefront is simple, just a glass door and a small sign. Sometimes the street outside gets very crowded with shoppers from Lajpat Nagar, but it’s a bit quieter inside among the rugs. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. If you're looking for something specific, it might take a minute to find it in the stacks. We don't use a computer for everything, mostly just a handwritten ledger for the sales. It’s how we have always done it. It’s a simple, practical way to run a shop. We often keep a broom handy because the carpet fibers get everywhere by the end of the day.
