Working at M S Battery & Inverter on the Hari Nagar Main Road means dealing with a lot of heavy lifting. Our shop at C 14 is right where the traffic is always crawling, so we get a lot of dust and noise from the buses passing by. Batteries are heavy and messy, especially the old lead-acid ones. We spend a lot of time checking water levels and testing voltages. When the power goes out in the summer, that’s when everyone remembers us. People come rushing in looking for inverters or asking why their backup isn't working. It gets pretty hectic during those months. The rest of the year, it’s a bit more relaxed. We spend our time cleaning the terminals and keeping the stock organized. The shop isn't very big, so we have to stack the batteries carefully so they don't block the way. I usually have a bit of acid burn on my clothes because it’s hard to stay completely clean in this line of work. Hari Nagar is a busy place, and being on the main road means we see everything that happens outside. We’ve seen shops open and close, but we’ve stayed right here. It’s a tough business because the technology keeps changing, but we try to keep up as best as we can. We just want to make sure people aren't sitting in the dark when the lights go out. It is hard work, but someone has to do it.
