If you come down to Shiv Vihar Tiraha on the main Karawal Nagar Road, you will find Lodhi Interior Furniture. We are right in the middle of Chauhan Market in Shahdara. It’s a noisy, lively place with lots of people moving around and trucks unloading stuff. Our shop is full of the smell of cut wood and sawdust. We spend most of the day measuring things, cutting planks, and putting pieces together. It’s a hands-on job, so our clothes are usually a bit messy by the afternoon. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. Instead, we have the actual workshop where the work happens. People from the neighborhood stop by to ask about a chair or a cupboard they need. We talk to them about what wood is available and how long it will take to make. It’s honest work and we like seeing something finished at the end of the week. Delhi is always fast, but when you are building a piece of furniture, you have to take your time or it won't be right. We deal with the heat and the dust from the road every day. It’s just us, some tools, and a lot of wood. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just make furniture that people can use in their homes.
