I'm sitting here at the desk in our Kalkaji shop, looking out at Govindpuri Extension. We've been at B 1914 19 for a good bit of time now. It’s mostly just us handling things for people who want to change how their rooms look. We have a lot of samples lying around, different fabrics and patterns for the walls. Sometimes it gets a bit messy with all the catalogs spread out on the table, but that’s how it goes when you’re trying to figure out what fits a space. People from around the neighborhood drop by, mostly asking about curtains or maybe some woodwork. We don't have a big fancy showroom, just this place where we keep our tools and materials. My cousin helps out with the measurements when we have to go to someone's house. It’s a lot of walking up and down stairs in these buildings. The tea guy comes around twice a day, which is nice because it gets tiring talking about paint colors and wood finishes all morning. We just try to get the work done without making too much of a fuss. If someone needs a shelf fixed or a whole room done, we see if we have the time to take it on. It’s not a huge operation, just a local spot where we try to keep busy. Most of the time, the radio is playing in the background while we sort through the latest shipments of fabric.
