Krishna Kumar Chauhan

You can find me at 747 Tis Hazari Main Road most days of the week. Being near the courts means it is always a mess of people and noise. Krishna Kumar Chauhan is the name I put on the small board outside so people can see it. I have a tiny space where I keep my typewriter and some legal pads for notes. It is very hot during the summer months here and the air feels heavy. The main road is always full of lawyers and people looking for help with their paperwork. I spend a lot of time waiting for things to move from one desk to another. My chair is quite old and it squeaks every time I move. I usually have a stack of newspapers from the last week sitting in the corner by the door. I do not like throwing them away until I have read everything. The tea guy knows exactly how I like my chai and he brings it over twice a day without me asking. There is not much room for more than two people to sit in here at once. Most of my work involves a lot of patience and sitting around. 747 is just a small room really in a big row of offices. I have a photo of my family on the shelf behind me. The floor is made of old stone that stays relatively cool. I walk to work most days because parking around Tis Hazari is nearly impossible. (258 words)
