Jagdamba Aluminium House

Our spot is on D B Gupta Road in Paharganj, specifically at G 11/2. If you know that road, you know how loud it gets with all the vehicles and people. The shop is right there on the ground level, and we keep it full of aluminum sheets and frames. We spend most of our time measuring lengths and cutting them down for whatever project is currently on the bench. The floor is usually covered in small silver shavings by mid-morning, and we sweep them up when we get a chance. It is a bit of a tight squeeze inside G 11/2 because aluminum takes up a lot of room, but we have managed to fit everything in over the years. We start work as soon as the sun is up, and we don't really stop until the traffic on D B Gupta Road starts to thin out in the evening. There is no air conditioning, just a couple of old fans that do their best to move the air around while we work. We handle the materials manually, so our hands are usually a bit grey from the metal by the time we leave. It is an honest living, and we have been part of this Paharganj neighborhood for quite a while now. We just focus on the aluminum and getting through the daily list of tasks that pile up on the counter. Every day is pretty much the same, with the sound of the road outside and the metal work inside.
