India Publication

India Publication is tucked away on the fourth floor of the Dhaka Chamber in Karol Bagh. We are in Office No 402, right in Gali No 38 over in Naiwala. It’s a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up, which happens now and then. This area is always buzzing with people and traffic, so it’s never quiet around here. Inside our office, it’s mostly stacks of papers and books waiting to be sorted. We do a lot of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into getting things printed and out to readers. It’s a small operation, just a few of us handling the editing, the layout, and talking to the printers. We’ve been in this building for a few years now and we’ve gotten used to the noise from the street. It isn't a glamorous job, mostly just sitting at computers and checking for mistakes. Sometimes authors come by to check on their projects, and we sit and have tea while we go over the details. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just focus on getting the books right and making sure they get where they need to go. It’s a lot of coordination and sometimes things get delayed, but we just keep pushing through the work. Karol Bagh is a great place to be because everything you need is right nearby, even if it is a bit chaotic. We just keep our heads down and get the printing done.
